A Pedagogic Initiative – A Journey to Full Matriculation

A three-year pedagogic initiative was developed for pupils from the 10th through 12th grades, combining matriculation studies and behavioral design through field trips.

Apparently this is the only program in Israel that teaches matriculation in this way and this is the only program that integrates theoretical studies into field trips and teaches the material to matriculation in the relevant places.

This program is designed for pupils who have a large educational gaps, most of them boarding school pupils. The goal is that 70% of the pupils will pass the matriculation.

The four goals:

  1. Studies for full matriculation.
  2. Design behavior.
  3. Leadership development.
  4. Social Involvement.

The four modes of action:

  1. Ending of each quarter in a 10-day journey, in self managed.

.2 The journey routes are built from the matriculation curriculum in all subjects .

  1. The trips are accompanied by the teachers of the class, the staff of the

boarding school, volunteers, and soldiers from various units .

  1. Evaluation and quantitative measurement of two areas: functioning and

achievements.

The four journeys that have taken place so far:

  1. From Kfar Silver to Jerusalem.
    The pupils studied history, civics, Bible and literature – Why are we going on a journey?
  1. Walking from the village to the Beer Sheva, through Rahat and the peripheral communities.
    The pupils studied history, civics, Bible and literature through the central question: What do we have in the wilderness?
  1. Walking from the village to – Tel Aviv.
    The pupils learned civics and history through the central question - Jewish and democratic.
  1. Walking from the Lebanese border to the Sea of ​​Galilee, on the Israel National Trail.
    The pupils learned civics and literature through the central question: Who determines a border?
