Triangulated Views on Culturally-informed Family Group Conference Model (FGC) in Diverse Groups in Israel
Since 2018, a pilot project in the model of a Family Group Conference (FGC) has been conducted in six diverse communities (e.g. Ultra-Orthodox, French, Ethiopian, Former Soviet Union immigrants). According to this model, families are accompanied by a coordinator who dialogues and collaborates with the family and community supporters in order to identify concerns and suggest possible interventions. The FGC model aims to maximize family child and community participation and cultural awareness.
The Symposium will unfold the first steps of implementation and evaluation of the FGC model. The session will entail the views of policy makers, practitioners and researchers involved in the process. The presentations will focus on the challenges and merits of the implementation as well as preliminary view on the evaluation efforts and research model. The triangulation of views of policy makers, practitioners and researchers highlights the complexity of the proposed model as well as its potential contribution to families and children at risk from a multicultural context–informed perspective.
