Background: In Ukraine since 2017 there is a measles outbreak. There are cases of measles among pregnant women, newborns and infants, which means about the non-immune part among women of childbearing age.

The objective of the work was to show the peculiarities of acquired measles in the newborn.

Methods: The child was born on 40 weeks gestation with a weight of 3300 g, vaccinated for Hepatitis B and BCG. On the 3rd day he was discharged home, he was breast-feeding.

Results: On the 10th day of the child`s life the mother got a fever and respiratory symptoms, on the 5th day of mother’s disease a macula-papular rash was visualized and spread throughout the mother’s body. The moderate measles was diagnosed. At the 20th day of life, after 8 days after the first mother’s symptoms appeared, the child`s body temperature increased, mild respiratory symptoms appeared. The following day, a spotted papular rash appeared on the face and the spread on the next day on the body. Rash and fever were kept for 6 days. The child received symptomatic therapy and oral vitamin A. On the 28th day life he was discharged home.

Conclusion: The presented case demonstrates the features of the measles in the newborn. The epidemiological peculiarities indicate that the mother is the source of the measles infection. At the same time, despite the presence of a typical rash, attention is drawn to the shortening of the prodromal period and the absence of a specific Koplik spots and non-specific enanthema and conjunctivitis. Despite the immunosuppressive properties of the measles virus and the immune peculiarities in the neonatal period, this case demonstrates an uncomplicated variant of the disease.
