Iatrogenic Fistula Between the Internal Jugular Vein and the Common Carotid Artery

71 years old man was admitted to the neurosurgery department with hypophyseal adenoma causing ptosis and oculomotor nerve palsy.

After a right sided Central Jugular line was inserted and used for ABx and saline, the patient started complaining of left sided hemiplegia and gaze deviation to the right, and so he underwent a CT+CTA for the head and neck - air embolus in the right parietal lobe with small infarct. The central line was piercing the jugular vein and entering the common carotid artery forming A-V fistula with the veins engorged on the right side of the face and neck
