Smart Medics - Creating a Clear Path for Your Continuous Biosignals

Adrian Maciejewski SmartMedics, Warsaw, Poland

SmartMedics, using screen printing technology, manufactured the first-on-market simultaneous 18-lead ECG patch with a dedicated device and mobile app. Conventional 12-lead ECG, used in hospital today, nearly miss 20% of myocardial infarctions, due to the lack of right sided and posterior electrodes. Additionally, based on literature and our complementary findings show that only 49% of nurses and 16% of cardiologists perform an ECG correctly. Integrating all electrodes into one patch, increases placement accuracy, while also improving usability, with patches applied in under 20 seconds.

As the patch is fully radiolucent, the ability to place it on early and continuously monitor the patient as they are undergoing a cath lab procedure, will improve the diagnostic field, while increasing comfort for the patient. Moreover, there is a lack of system from onset of diagnosis, to intraprocedural monitoring, to post-procedural monitoring. Furthermore, single electrode placement is time consuming (up to 2 minutes for a standard 12-lead configuration). Our patch, with its integrated electrodes, is placed in 20 seconds (based on usability testing in the US and Poland). This allows for more procedures to be performed, in the same working day of medical staff.

Currently, SM has began pilot production, with CE obtained in late July 2019 for a family of five electrode patches. FDA certificate is anticipated by the end of the year. The technology utilized in ECG electrodes will be further explored in electrophysiology, sleep staging, neurology and lifestyle applications.

Our team consists of team of healthcare practitioners with years of relevant clinical experience to scientists, engineers, developers, designers, regulatory and experts who put excellence and quality above all.
