Using Cortical Responses in Assessing and Understanding Auditory Function

Prof. Linda Hood
Professor and Hearing Scientist in the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences, Director of the Auditory Physiology Laboratory and Associate Director for Research at the National Center for Childhood Deafness and Family Communication, Vanderbilt University, USA

Cortical responses have a wide range of clinical applications including estimating auditory sensitivity, identifying neural abnormalities, assessing amplification and cochlear implant benefit, documenting neural changes. In addition to review of methodology and discussion of applications, a new technique that combines long latency and steady state approaches will be described.
