The SARS-CoV-2 pandemia requires medical teams to minimize contact with patients, avoiding unnecessary contagion. However, in the pediatric emergency setting, the help of child life teams, specifically medical clowns, has become an integral part of child care. Methods: An online survey of medical clowns working in pediatric emergency departments in Israel explored subjective feelings regarding personal safety during the outbreak period. Results: 28 medical clowns from Dream Doctors inc filled the survey. Only 19 continued working during the outbreak, 6 others felt insecure and 3 were asked not to come in. Those who continued to work felt they had adequate protective equipment, yet the hospitals did not offer clear safety instructions.Although appreciated by the medical staff and families, the medical clowns felt they were less important to the hospital than other healthcare workers. Conclusion: Medical clowns who bravely continue their work during the pandemia should receive the necessary safety instructions and support from the hospitals to enable their continued efforts.
