The question that will be discussed in this presentation is a rather moderate, concrete one: when does Israeli Jews quote verses of the Qur`an and to what purposes. In the study we`ve identified the following main uses of Quranic verses by Jews: (1) Academic, i.e. scholarly studies of the Qur`an in the Israeli academia, which continues the 19th century of Jewish study of Islam; (2) national-polemics, which is basically the attempt to prove that Allah promised the Holy Land to the Jews; (3) security, either by mista`arvim to hide their identity or by shabak regional officers as part of their psychological warfare in Palestinian communities; and (4) spiritual-mystical –Jews who look for shared religious or spiritual path with Muslims, usually of Sufi orders. Following the presentation of these categories I will discuss the variety of paths of Jewish-Muslim relations as suggested by these readings of the Quran.
