Background on Iraq

“Democratizing Iraq” was a goal invented by the US after it became clear that Iraq had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks and that the US manipulated intelligence. Notwithstanding, it was consistent with traditional US policy of promoting democracy, a lofty and admirable goal that never worked.
