Amputation is a destructive procedure providing a last resort to fix the unfixable, we can get rid of a dangerous infection or unstable limb to let people walk on a prosthetic device.

The question is what to do with a painful limb. We provide our experience with three patients suffered of CRPS treated with BKA, one 12 years ago, one 4 year ago, and an one year ago

To provide the proper treatment we asses them with a rehabilitation specialist psychologist and psychologist we exclude substance abuse with hospitalization and blood and urine test.

We mark the leg for the areas of the pain in order not to include them in the stump.

We make sure the distribution of the pain is multineural (CRPS).

On the day of the surgery we provide proper anesthesiologist protocol with local blocks and the usual stump in our hands is longer than the stump from another indications.

All the three patients use their limb and participate in sports. We recommend this procedure in carefully evaluated patients.
