The role of Homeland(s) and other communities in the Chilean Sephardic diasporic identity configuration. Third-generation Jews and converts to Judaism in the Chilean Sephardic community

author.DisplayName

The new modalities of migration and the new ways of conceptualizing diasphoric groups caused by the transnational cultural configuration in globalization force us to think under new paradigms and methods about the identity processes of minority groups in which the role of the homeland or homelands adapts to a specifi local/national reality. In this sense this lecture will be focused in identity developments and reconfigurations of the young sephardic jews of Chile about their "family homeland" (places of origin of the first generation of sephardic inmigrants to Chile in former Yugoslavia; Greece and Ottoman Empire) and the "traditional jewish homeland" (The State of Israel).
