Jewish Archives and National Narratives: Robert Anchel and the State of Jewish Archives in Interwar France

Mathias Dreyfuss will discuss the state of Jewish archives in France on the eve of WWII through the lens of the archivist and historian Robert Anchel`s work. He will draw attention to debates over the use of Jewish and non-Jewish archives in the construction of Jewish history, how these debates echo the social and political situation of French Jewry and connect to larger historiographical debates in postwar France.
