Reflections and considerations on 25 years of professional experiences in American Jewish museums and in American general art, history, and culture museums, focused on Jewish ceremonial objects. This presentation will consider key issues on collecting, presenting, and contextualizing Jewish artifacts. The main questions discussed will include: What has changed since the foundation of leading cultural institutions in the United States? What may be next for Jewish ritual objects collecting and displaying? And where is there potential for scholarship, creativity, and impact today?
