We are living in a changing world, when we have to adapt our EAP courses both to the CEFR reform and to the coronavirus, when we cannot teach in a regular way. As a result, in Ramat Gan Academic College, it was decided to adapt the advanced B level course (mitkadmim bet) in all the programs of the college. Our courses are program-specific, when students of Nursing are dealing with reading, writing, listening and speaking activities related to nursing and medicine, students of Management – activities related to management etc. At first, due to many ethical problems related to having an online exam, it was decided to change the format of the course and to make it project oriented: students must choose a research article relevant to their field of study, answer ten general questions related to understanding research, write an opinion essay related to their article, and have an oral presentation in which they explain the main issues related to their article. After a year of this experience, it was decided to combine 2 practices: first students conduct a mini research project, analyzing a research article, and then having a final exam which includes a similar activity, with the same type of questions and writing, but for a shorter article. Thus, instead of being (only) an obstacle, the coronavirus made it easier for us to adapt our courses to the CEFR format and made the students more involved during the entire course.
