Virtual exchanges are an innovative pedagogy that provides students the opportunity to develop essential 21st-century skills needed to be active global citizens, such as intercultural competences, language competencies, and digital skills. Research has shown that effective VEs need careful planning to ensure meaningful and respectful collaboration between students that overcomes logistical and technical barriers. However, most faculty have only a faint idea of what it means and may fear they lack language, intercultural, and/or digital skills to overcome the logistical, technical, and intercultural challenges of a VE. Faculty training programs in VE can offer faculty the knowledge, skills, and support to surpass these fears. In this presentation, we will present our VE faculty training program, which is designed with the local Israeli context in mind. Our goal is to encourage faculty to take up the challenge of developing and implementing a VE.
