The globalised 21st century removed any doubts about the importance of students` intercultural competencies for a successful career in the modern world. The Сovid-19 pandemic, which led to "onlinification"of classes, disrupted face-to-face education worldwide, but at the same time multiplied the opportunities for international online collaboration. This conference talk reports on an online collaborative project between 30 SMKB Education majors and 15 International Journalism majors from a university in Moscow. The project, which involved recording a podcast series, embraced Project-Based Learning and included reading, writing, listening and speaking tasks, thus tackling all the 4 CEFR skills. The aim of the project was to develop the students’ speaking skills, raise their communicative and pragmatic competence, develop the students` cultural awareness, as well as let the Russian Journalism majors hone their interview skills. The project lasted 4 weeks. The students communicated via email, WhatsApp and Instagram, and as a result of their collaboration recorded a podcast called Small World, Big Ideas focusing on the differences in higher education in Israel and Russia. After the end of the project, the students were asked to comment on the other podcasts and fill in the feedback questionnaire.
