Mass spectrometry based proteomics is now a mature technology, facilitating quantification of thousands of proteins and posttranslational modifications, from low sample quantities and in very short time frames. This has been driven by developments in all aspects of the technology: sample preparation, instrumentation, data acquisition modes and software. The major developments in the field will be highlighted as well a novel technology we developed for in the field of glycoproteomics, which is the most challenging posttranslational modification.
