Purpose: To assess the population`s knowledge about Oral Breathing Disorders and Obstructive Sleep Apnea, before and after a telehealth program in health using podcasts.Theoretical background: Despite the dissemination of the importance of Speech Therapy, the population`s knowledge about the profession is still limited to aspects related to communication¹, with other specialties being less known. Orofacial Motricity plays a fundamental role in the treatment of Oral Breathing2 and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)3. Despite the negative health impacts that these conditions can have, awareness of these disorders needs to be more widespread2,3. Research method: This is a quantitative, quasi-experimental study, approved by the Ethics Committee, under protocol number 6.259.041. The study consisted of three stages: application of an initial questionnaire with questions about Orofacial Motricity, Oral Breathing and Obstructive Sleep Apnea; listening to podcast episodes created based on a review of scientific literature; and application of a final questionnaire. The Cochran-Mantel-Haenszel Test was applied to compare the participants` responses before and after the intervention. A significance level of 5% was adopted.Findings: It was observed that 19 of the 23 comparable questions presented statistically significant differences (p≤0.05), indicating that there was acquisition of knowledge on the topics after listening to the podcast.Discussion:The podcast was chosen because information and communication technologies are widely integrated into people`s daily lives, providing a democratic platform for awareness and dissemination of information on the selected subjects. This study demonstrated that the intervention based on podcast telehealth was effective and successfully fulfilled its purpose of disseminating information and educating the public about the topics addressed.
