We study the interaction between molecular excited states and surface plasmon modes of hole arrays.
We focus on manipulating and controlling the molecular system by strongly coupling it to plasmonic modes of hole array.
The coupling between these two is studied both by linear spectroscopic measurements and non linear measurements, such as second harmonic generation (SHG).
A coherent energy transfer between the molecular system and the plasmonic modes is detected and the geometric parameters of the metallic nano structures are optimized to maximize the energy transfer.
Such strongly coupled hybrid systems (molecules + plasmons), may find an important application in novel ultra-fast optical switches and in photochemistry.
