The kidneys play a pivotal role in blood pressure control by regulating salt and water homeostasis. In chronic kidney disease, dysregulation of these subtle mechanisms leads to hypertension in a high percentage of patients. However, vice versa, hypertensive target organ damage may also result in impaired kidney function starting from microalbuminuria to overt chronic kidney disease.
In this talk assessment of kidney disease in hypertension and antihypertensive and nephroprotective treatment strategies, including RAS and SGLT-2 inhibition, will be discussed.
